Salinas
South-central coast municipality — Cayos Caribe and the seafood-restaurant cluster at the Pozuelo waterfront.
Salinas is the south-central coast municipality with the Cayos Caribe (small offshore islands accessible by boat) and a celebrated seafood-restaurant cluster at the Pozuelo waterfront — one of PR's better-known fritura-and-seafood strips, drawing weekend crowds from across the south coast. The town runs as a working fishing-and-services community with a tourist-leaning weekend crowd drawn by the waterfront restaurants and the offshore-island excursions. The broader municipality extends inland from the coast, with agricultural land running toward the mountains and a real residential community texture in the town interior. For visiting JRCM-registered patients on a south-coast loop, Salinas is the seafood-and-mangrove-coast stop that breaks up the longer Ponce-to-Guayama drive. Local JRCM-licensed dispensary access is thinner than Ponce; metro or Ponce purchases before driving in are the practical pattern, with at-home consumption only at the rental.
