Caguas

Central-valley city, Plaza Palmer’s historic core, and the eastern foothills gateway to the Cordillera Central.

Caguas sits in Puerto Rico's central valley, half an hour south of San Juan via PR-52, anchored by the Plaza Palmer historic downtown and the surrounding cathedral-and-government district. The city is one of the largest on the island by population and serves as a commercial-and-services hub for the surrounding municipalities. The Caguas Botanical and Cultural Garden carries the protected-greenspace layer; the Piñones-to-Cayey corridor runs through here, making Caguas a stop on the main north-south route into the central mountains. JRCM-licensed retail in Caguas has settled in heavily — the population base and proximity to San Juan support a real dispensary cluster, and the city is one of the easier supply stops on the way to Cayey, Aibonito, or further into the Cordillera. For adults 21+, Caguas is more transit-zone than destination but works for the cannabis-aware visitor passing through to the central mountains or south coast.
