Dispensaries in Bayamón are easy to reach and easy to miscount. The Junta Reglamentadora del Cannabis Medicinal's October 2026 directory of licensed establishments lists 19 dispensary licenses at Bayamón addresses, which puts the city just behind San Juan on the island's medical cannabis map. Puerto Rico's program is medical-only, so every one of them sells only to authorized patients, adults 21+ in nearly every case. Here is how the Bayamón map works for registered and visiting patients.
Bayamón, briefly
Bayamón is the second-largest municipality in Puerto Rico, with 185,187 residents in the 2020 census, and it sits on the western side of the San Juan metropolitan area between Guaynabo and Toa Baja. It was formally founded in 1772. The city goes by several nicknames, Ciudad del Chicharrón the most famous, and also by one locals use with less affection, a nod to its traffic. The Tren Urbano ends at Bayamón station, and PR-2, PR-5, PR-22, PR-167 and PR-174 all run through the municipality.
The river gives the city its other landmarks. The Paseo Lineal runs about six miles along the Río Bayamón for walkers, runners and cyclists, and the Marqués de la Serna bridge, from 1869, was the first metal bridge on the island.
Where the dispensaries are
The licenses follow the main roads and shopping centers rather than the old town center. In the directory's addresses, three corridors repeat:
- PR-2, including Hato Tejas and the stretch at Calle Correa.
- PR-167, through Buena Vista, Rexville and Barrio La Aldea.
- Ave. Las Cumbres and Ave. Lomas Verdes, with several stores in neighborhood shopping centers.
A few names are easy to confirm. Tetra, the brand of licensee PRICH Biotech Corp., lists three Bayamón stores on its own site: Ciudad Jardín Shopping Village on Ave. Las Cumbres, Calle Acacia at Ave. Lomas Verdes, and Carr. 2 Km 15.5 in Hato Tejas. WeedCo lists a Bayamón dispensary on its site, and the state directory shows its licensee, Essence Cannabis Group, at Centro Comercial Plaza Praderas.
Other licensees in the October 2026 directory include Caribbean Green Growers on Carr. 167 Km 20.3 in Barrio La Aldea, Healthweed with locations in the Minillas industrial park on Carr. 174 and on Carr. 167 Km 18.3 in Rexville, and 3G Green Gold Group at Carr. 2 at Calle Correa and on Ave. Agustín Stahl. Corporate names on the license and the brand on the sign often differ, so the directory at salud.pr.gov/CMS/364 is the way to match one to the other. One caution: a dispensary listed in "Bo. Bayamón" in the directory is in Cidra, a different town altogether.
The full list of locations is on the dispensary directory, and the Bayamón town hub and the neighboring Guaynabo town hub collect local pages.
Who can buy
Registered Puerto Rico patients. The JRCM issues patient identification after a recommendation from an authorized physician. Adult applicants must be 21 or older or legally emancipated.
Patients from other US states. Ley 42-2017 includes residents of other states who hold an identification issued by their home state in its definition of patient, and the JRCM recognizes them when they meet Reglamento 9038. Dispensaries usually want a photo card, and they generally will not sell flower on an out-of-state card. Expect vape, tincture, capsule, edible and topical options.
Visitors with no usable card can look into a temporary Puerto Rico registration through a certifying clinic. Its length, fee and turnaround are not spelled out in published regulation; confirm all three with the clinic before paying.
The rule, plainly
- No smoking. Ley 42-2017 prohibits consuming cannabis by smoking, for everyone.
- No public use. Medical use is prohibited in public places, from the plaza to the Paseo Lineal to the Tren Urbano.
- Not at the store, not at events. Use is barred at dispensaries and other licensed facilities, in so-called vape lounges, and at public or private events.
- No sharing. Reglamento 9038 prohibits giving, trading or transferring medical cannabis to anyone else, a spouse or a fellow patient included.
- Not on federal property, and not off the island. The regulation prohibits use on US government property and forbids carrying medical cannabis to the mainland or any other jurisdiction.
- Not behind the wheel. Driving under the influence of medical cannabis is illegal, and PR-2 and PR-22 at rush hour are no place to test anyone's reflexes.
Edibles follow the usual rule: start low, go slow, and keep a first serving at 10 mg or less.
What it means for your visit: a Bayamón purchase belongs to one patient, and it stays sealed on the train, in the car and anywhere else the public goes.
Getting there
From Santurce or Hato Rey, the Tren Urbano is the low-stress way across the metro area, and its line ends at Bayamón station. Most dispensary addresses are in shopping centers along the main roads rather than beside a station, so a short ride or a car finishes the trip. Traffic is part of the city's reputation; plan around the morning and evening rush on PR-2 and PR-22.
Before you go
- Bring the card you plan to buy on and a government photo ID with the same name.
- With an out-of-state card, call ahead and ask what the store will sell on it.
- Confirm the address against the state directory; several Bayamón licenses changed hands or names in recent years.
- Keep purchases sealed, out of reach while driving, and in your own possession.
- Check the events calendar for the season's festivals, and remember the event ban applies at all of them.
