Puerto Rico Nightlife — Salsa, Bomba, Plena, Reggaeton
Puerto Rico's nightlife rhythm runs Thursday through Sunday and concentrates in a handful of districts. La Placita de Santurce goes off Thursday nights — a market by day, a salsa-bomba-dembow outdoor party by night. Condado runs the high-end club scene. Old San Juan has the Calle San Sebastián late-night bar strip. Rincón on the west coast turns into a surf-town nightlife scene in winter. Vieques and Culebra run a quieter, smaller-scale version of the same. This pillar covers the nightlife districts by night of the week, the live-music venues where salsa, bomba, and plena are still played by real ensembles (not just playlists), the reggaeton club circuit, and the medical-cannabis-aware rhythm: pre-show at the rental, dinner somewhere serious, the show or club, cab home. Public consumption including on the club floor isn't permitted.
