Orocovis
Geographic center of Puerto Rico — deep cordillera, the most rural mountain experience available on the island.
Orocovis is the central-mountain town that sits at the geographic center of Puerto Rico, deep in the cordillera. The town runs at one of the slowest paces on the entire island; the surrounding peaks include Cerro Maravilla and Cerro de Doña Juana, both above 1,000m, and the region's road network is the most winding-mountain you'll experience anywhere on the island — narrow rural routes through dense forest, with views opening up at gaps in the canopy. The food scene is genuinely local and includes some of the most-talked-about jíbaro cuisine on the island (the rural-mountain cooking tradition central to PR food identity). For visiting JRCM-registered patients seeking the deepest-rural mountain experience, Orocovis delivers in a way the coastal towns can't. Local JRCM-licensed dispensary access is essentially nonexistent; SJ-metro purchases are the only practical pattern, with at-home consumption only at the rental.
