Best ways to impress my boyfriend’s PR family with cooking?

I’ve cooked for his family before, but this time I really want to level up. My boyfriend is pretty Americanized, so he’s no help with traditional dishes, and I’d love to surprise them. I’ve been researching recipes, but a lot of them feel too similar to Haitian food (which I already make), which makes sense because of the shared Latin influences. This time, I want to branch out and try something different…something a little more niche and challenging, if that makes sense.</p> <p>Also, I’d like to add.. I’d prefer to focus on side dishes. The main dishes are too similar to my usual cooking.
